Sofia Skopou studied music at the National Conservatory of Greece, receiving her Piano Certificate in 1996 with distinction. Continuing her studies at the Attiko Conservatory, she received her Soloist Diploma in Piano Performance with an award of honorary distinction in 1998. When Sofia received her diploma, she was awarded with the First Prize recognition amongst the solo pianist candidates. After graduating, she taught piano at the Municipal Conservatory and the Attiko Conservatory. Sofia was Headmistress of the Epicurus Conservatory on Samos Island for more than ten years before moving to the Netherlands. There, she has taught piano privately at International School Utrecht and in Nieuwegein.

Sofia graduated at the State University of Ioannina, receiving a diploma from the Faculty of Letters and Humanities (School of Philosophy), in the Department of Philosophy-Pedagogics/Education and Psychology, with a major in Psychology. She worked in Public Service as Headmistress of the Secondary Special Education School in Greece, combining two fields of her studies, Music and Psychology. Currently she is studying communications skills, piano teaching and mental health for her PhD at the State University of Corfu. She is working out the final plans of a cultural well-being center on Samos Island.

Sofia is looking forward to sitting on the board as chair of the Internationaal Orkest Utrecht to be able to give back to the community. She finds the overall well-being of society important and is therefore an advocate of promoting an awareness of how culture can create an impact, leading to a resilient society.
